When you choose cardiac rehabilitation at UNC Lenoir, you can trust our care because:

  • We’re an American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) nationally certified program.
  • Our program is certified through the North Carolina Division of Facility Services and the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.

Who Can Participate?

You’re eligible for our cardiac rehabilitation program if you’ve experienced one of the following conditions or procedures in the last year:

  • Angioplasty and/or stent
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Coronary artery bypass graft
  • Heart attack
  • Heart transplant
  • Stable angina
  • Valve replacement or repair

Support to Stop Smoking

Find help to stop smoking and improve your heart health. Sign up for a Quit for Life smoking cessation class.

Exercise for Better Heart Health

Your cardiac rehab team will work with you to develop your exercise plan. Exercise programs typically involve 36 sessions. Expect daily progress monitoring and re-evaluation when you finish the program.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Group Exercise Sessions

Join monitored cardiac rehabilitation group exercise to build cardiovascular fitness on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the Minges Wellness Center, located on the lower level of the hospital. Park by the UNC Health Lenoir Wellness Center entrance for easy access.

Group exercise sessions combine:

  • Stretching and flexibility exercises
  • Aerobic conditioning
  • Cool-down activities, relaxation, or education

Understand Your Insurance Benefits

Check with your health insurance company to find out if a cardiac rehabilitation program and services costs are covered. You’ll be responsible for deductibles, co-pays and charges not covered by your health insurance plan. Work with our Billing and Financial Assistance department if you need a payment plan.
